Awardees


NIGMS grantees Dr. Richard D. Kolodner (left) and Dr. Paul L. Modrich recently received the 1996 Charles S. Mott Prize from the General Motors Cancer Research Foundation. The prize was awarded for "outstanding achievement in unraveling the mystery of DNA 'mismatch repair' and its association with hereditary non-polyposis colon carcinoma." They each received a gold medal and were awarded a total of $100,000. Modrich, a professor at Duke, has been an NIGMS grantee since 1974. Kolodner, a Harvard professor, has been an NIGMS grantee since 1971. He has also received support from NCHGR and NIAID.
